Effingham, IL, May 10, 2023 – On Thursday, May 4, 2023, students from Teutopolis and Dieterich High Schools attended the Effingham County Law Day event starting off at the Effingham County Government Center with refreshments and welcome from Joshua Douthit, Chairman of the Board, and Aaron Jones, State’s Attorney. After the welcome, students were given a tour of the tunnel from the Government Center to the County Building, tour of the county jail, fire arms & safety class with range practical accompanying Sheriff Kuhns, and job shadowing with various county officials. Lunch was sponsored by the Effingham Elk’s Lodge 1016.

The Effingham County Board is the legislative body of County Government comprised of nine elected members, each representing a geographic district within the County. The Board participates an open meeting monthly on the third Monday of the month, with the exception of Holidays in which the meeting date is moved to Tuesday.
