The purpose of this award is to celebrate member businesses for the outstanding contributions that they make to our communities and the local economy through their continued growth, innovation, and community support. Award criteria includes the company’s investment in improved facilities; increased employment; innovation in business practices and processes; and, exceptional involvement in community projects/programs through financial contributions, sponsorships, in-kind goods and services, and employee volunteerism.
About Niemerg’s Steakhouse
Niemerg’s Steakhouse served its first customer in 1978 under the leadership of two 23-year-old kids – Gene Niemerg and Dennis Sandschafer. High school classmates who learned as the business grew and worked countless hours to make them successful.
The company started with a staff of about 20 people in 1978 and are proud to now be a team of 170 members under the leadership of the second generation. Multiple members of the Niemerg’s team have been with the company for over 35 years and there are several employees with 3rd generation family members working at Niemerg’s. The company proudly employs over 50 high school and college students who earn extra college scholarships for every hour they work. All Niemerg’s success can be attributed to their staff, past and present, who the owners have been blessed to work with daily
.Niemerg’s is a big supporter of shop local and does their best to always use local suppliers for products and services whenever possible. They are also proud to support several local organizations, including local high school athletics, FISH, Catholic Charities, Right to Life, United Way, Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, and Crisis Nursery of Effingham. Effingham is blessed to have these and so many other organizations supporting each other.
Niemerg’s mission is to Gather, Serve and Give. They are committed to continuing to bring people together, in their dining rooms, at a catered event, or with takeout meals at home. They are proud to have an amazing team, who will continue to serve their customers and do everything within their ability to make the customer experience as enjoyable as possible.
