About The Equity
The Equity began in 1919 with a group of forward-thinking farmers who saw that by joining together they would have greater buying power. Today The Equity is the largest independent agricultural cooperative in Illinois. Their market area covers approximately 20,000 square miles with 17 full-time locations in Illinois: Effingham, Alma, Altamont, Dieterich, Farina, Galton, Greenville, Horace, Lovington, Marshall, Montrose, Pana, Robinson, St. Rose, Stewardson, Strasburg, West Liberty, and one location in Farmersburg, Indiana.
The Equity has invested in infrastructure and people to service their customers’ agronomy needs when they need them. They’ve established The Equity Agronomy Department, Energy Department, Feed & Livestock Department, and the Grain Department all to provide American-made brands for homeowners, farmers, contractors, hunters and more.
While The Equity has grown and developed greatly during the last years, one constant remains – the focus on agriculture. Today, as in 1919, The Equity’s main purpose is to help its members obtain the goods and services they need to farm as efficiently and profitably as possible. The concept of cooperation is a tested form of business organization that has survived wars, depressions, intergenerational transitions, and changes in government. The Equity’s challenge for the future is to test its limits to assure that is does the best possible job for its patrons.
The culture of Team Equity, strategic directives from the Board of Directors, and their 5,000 members are what make The Equity successful and relevant today and into the future. Their core values of profitability, customer focus, constant improvement, integrity, and accountability will not change. Team Equity will continue to provide the best products, latest technology, and highest quality service – done right!
