Senior System Administrator / Network Engineer

Location: Mattoon, Illinois (Hybrid: Remote + Onsite Support)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role
Team ITS is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior System Administrator / Network Engineer to join our growing team in the Mattoon, Illinois area. This hybrid position combines remote support with scheduled onsite service for local clients. The role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, client-facing professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple complex environments across both cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is an experienced IT professional with a deep understanding of network infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and systems administration—capable of designing, implementing, and supporting reliable, secure, and scalable solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide remote and onsite support to clients throughout the Mattoon area
• Design, deploy, and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments
• Configure and manage firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks (Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, SonicWall, UniFi, etc.)
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and assist with infrastructure planning and upgrades
• Support hybrid and cloud infrastructures including Azure and AWS integrations
• Implement and monitor backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity tools (EDR, SOC/SIEM, MFA, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and network issues across diverse client environments
• Collaborate with internal engineers and Tier 1–2 staff on escalations and project implementations
• Maintain compliance standards (HIPAA, NIST, CMMC) and security best practices
• Document procedures, configurations, and client-specific solutions for long-term manageability

Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in systems administration and/or network engineering
• Strong technical foundation in Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, and Exchange Online
• Hands-on experience with firewall configuration, VPN setup, VLANs, and WAN connectivity
• Proficiency with VMware / Hyper-V virtualization and Windows Server management
• Familiarity with backup and recovery platforms (Cove, Datto, Veeam, etc.)
• Experience with RMM and PSA tools (Kaseya, ConnectWise, or similar) preferred
• Relevant certifications (MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, Network+, Security+, or Azure Administrator) strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and client interaction skills
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel locally for onsite client support
