Meals on Wheels Site Supervisor
Title: C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels Site Supervisor
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Meals on Wheels Program Manager, Senior Services Director
Responsibilities:
Coordinate nutrition site activities within the guidelines set forth by the C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels (MOW) Program, the C.E.F.S. Board of Directors, and the Older Americans Act.
Meals on Wheels Duties:
- Maintain a professional image and attitude toward all participants and guests. Help each individual feel welcome and at your site.
- Attend training in food safety and sanitation and pass the National Food Protection Manager certification exam.
- Check quality, quantity, and temperature of food when it is delivered and record information on the weekly temperature chart. Call the central office if any discrepancies are found and make necessary arrangements to correct these. Keep food at proper hot and cold temperatures.
- Pack home-delivered meals in appropriate containers while ensuring correct sanitation procedures are followed.
- Keep current listings of all home-delivered and congregate participants. Keep reservation and route sheets current.
- Complete weekly center report and deposit donations to the program in the C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels account at the local bank each day.
- Assess all home delivered participants within 10 days of starting service and reassess on a yearly basis.
- Train volunteers in all aspects of food handling and site procedures. Encourage volunteerism and check volunteer sign-up sheets for accuracy.
- Recruit volunteers for home-delivered routes and packing of home-delivered meals.
- Be responsible for his/her own transportation to the site and to any staff meetings or any special training sessions.
- Conserve Meals on Wheels of C.E.F.S. resources by using supplies carefully and following the meal reservation policy.
- Share nutrition education information distributed by the central office staff with congregate and home-delivered participants.
- Send in at least one printed news release concerning nutrition site activities per quarter. Arrange for one annual radio show to market your nutrition site.
- Make referrals to any other agencies for services that may benefit the participant.
- Provide at least one hour of active outreach each month with documentation on specified form.
- Consider records, personal information and conversation concerning the agency, its employees, and the people it serves as confidential.
- Maintain procedures manual as directed.
- Work with the Site Council and Project Council members on matters which deal with the meal site.
- Collaborate with the community in sponsoring a yearly fund raiser.
- Serve as the local spokesperson in promoting Meals on Wheels of C.E.F.S. and the C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation’s positive relationship in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must pass E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation and Illinois Department on Aging required background checks.
- Has computer skills and the ability to navigate the internet.
- Has the ability to relate to the needs of the elderly.
- Experience working with and recruiting volunteers.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Has good communication skills.
- Has the Food Protection Managers certification or is willing to take the training.
- Is supportive of the mission, goals and objectives of C.E.F.S. Economic Opportunity Corporation and C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels Program.
Essential Functions:

Using writing tools, computer and kitchen utensils when serving and packing meals, opening of latches
Sensory and Cognitive Abilities
Reading instructions – policies and procedures; analyzing and interpreting data; giving presentations; computation in determining eligibility and compliance of clients; tasting and smelling of food; listening; communicating with clients and community partners
Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, twisting of upper body, forward reaching, lifting up to 30lbs from waist to shoulder, 30lbs from waist to floor, carry 25-lbs. 10 feet, bending, stooping, climbing steps.
Training and Certifications
Food Protection Managers certification and valid driver’s license
Environmental Demands
Work indoors 90% of the time. Work off-site 10% of the time for meetings and assessments/reassessments of clients.
