EFFINGHAM, IL AND MATTOON, IL – Washington Savings Bank recently concluded its fourth annual Pink Pumpkin Contest, held in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Employees showcased their creativity by decorating pumpkins with unique designs that promoted breast cancer awareness, and community members were invited to vote for their favorites through donations. With the generosity of participants and a matching contribution from Washington Savings Bank, the event raised $1,250, resulting in a $750 donation to LeAnn’s Light in Effingham and $500 to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Mobile Mammography Unit in Mattoon.

Both organizations play an essential role in supporting community members affected by breast cancer. LeAnn’s Light, a nonprofit organization, provides financial assistance, emotional support, and educational resources to cancer patients and their families. The Sarah Bush Lincoln Mobile Mammography Unit extends access to life-saving mammograms across a 10-county area, reaching women who may not have convenient access to traditional healthcare facilities.

“At Washington Savings Bank, we are proud to support breast cancer awareness and these impactful organizations. Our Pink Pumpkin Contest is a meaningful way to engage our team and community in this important cause,” said Elaine Buehnerkemper, Senior Vice President.

Washington Savings Bank extends its sincere gratitude to the Effingham and Mattoon communities for their generous support of the 2024 Pink Pumpkin Contest, helping to make a difference for those affected by breast cancer.
