Dieterich, Ill. (November 25, 2024) It’s estimated that less than 3% of family businesses make it to the fifth generation, and Wright’s Furniture & Flooring in Central Illinois is defeating the odds. For over 135 years, the Wright family business has been a cornerstone of the community, and with Small Business Saturday approaching on November 30, it’s more than just a day for sales and supporting local businesses, it’s an opportunity to celebrate their history.

John Wright, President of Wright’s Furniture & Flooring said hiring local and being involved in the Central Illinois community has made an impact but having the community support is what’s kept the business alive.

“We are proud to have a small family-owned business and as a fourth generation Wright, it means so much to me and our family to have such supportive customers who keep coming back to us year after year,” said Wright. “Our customers see our staff at the community events, in our grocery stores and at their kids’ sporting events. When our customers come in and see familiar faces in the community, they feel more at home, and that’s exactly what my great-grandfather envisioned opening Wright’s Furniture & Flooring.”

Alex Wright, Vice President of Wright’s Furniture & Flooring said Small Business Saturday is a good reminder to the community that shopping local does make a difference.

“Shopping local offers so many benefits, but for us at Wright’s, it’s truly the heart of what we do,” said Wright. “When you support local businesses, you’re helping your community thrive and supporting the growth of Central Illinois. We encourage everyone to shop local not just on Small Business Saturday, but think of those businesses whenever they’re making a choice where to shop year-round.”
