Effingham, Illinois – United Way of Effingham County has partnered up with new local business Raise with Resin to put recycling and fundraising hand in hand. Community members are able to use the referral link provided by Raise with Resin to generate a QR code that will allow recycle deposits to be made and funds to go directly to United Way of Effingham County.

The steps are simple. Just visit United Way of Effingham County’s Facebook Page or their website (www.effinghamunitedway.org) to access the referral link. There you input your email address and you are sent a QR code. This QR code is what you scan at the recycling center to unlock the drawers, deposit your items and designate the funds raised to United Way of Effingham County.

Raise with Resin is located at 305 E Fayette Avenue in Effingham, next to the Gabby Goat. Items accepted are aluminum cans and clear plastic bottles (bottles with “1” in the recycle emblem). The items do need to be separated and put into the bins openly (not in a bag). Tabs, labels and lids can remain on the items. Please make sure the bottles and cans are empty before depositing. The items are taken via conveyer belt into the building, evaluated and weighed for fund determination.

Emily Hille, Chief Professional Officer of United Way of Effingham County said, “We are so excited to partner with a great, new local business like Raise with Resin. It’s an incredibly good feeling to not only come up with new, fluid ways to be constantly helping our 19 partner agencies, but also helping the good of the environment as well.”
