Charleston, IL – Those interested in live music and beer are encouraged to attend Hops and Harmonies: A Celebration of Beer and Music Thursday, February 29 at the Charleston Country Club’s beer-tasting fundraiser. Charleston Country Club is located at 8355 Country Club Road in Charleston. All proceeds will benefit EIU’s Academy of Lifelong Learning.

Attendance is $25 for pre-registration or $30 at the door, and the event will highlight five selections of beer alongside a set of classical music hosted by EIU’s Wind Symphony Chamber Ensembles, directed by EIU Director of Bands Dr. Alicia Neal. Other EIU representatives attending the event will include University President Jay Gatrell, Interim Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Dr. Michael Cornebise, retired Dean of the College of Education Doug Bower, faculty member and Director of the Center for the Humanities Dr. C.C. Wharram, and Dr. Don Holly, Department Chair & Professor of Anthropology.

Participants are welcome and encouraged to purchase dinner and additional drinks at the Country Club’s bar and restaurant. Participants must be 21 or older to enter. Event registration is available at go.eiu.edu/hops.
