Effingham, IL, April 17, 2023 – On Monday April 17, 2023 at the Effingham County Board meeting, Board Chairman, Joshua Douthit, signed a proclamation declaring May 4, 2023 as Law Day in Effingham County.

Chairman Douthit shared the establishment of Law Day as a means of calling attention to government and the part that law and order play in the county’s form of government stating that much can be learned by observing the functions of the various offices of County Government.

Chairman Douthit declared Thursday, May 4, 2023 as Law Day in Effingham County allowing the opportunity for participating students from the high schools of Effingham County to visit and observe activities of the various offices of Effingham County Government.

The Effingham County Board is the legislative body of County Government comprised of nine elected members, each representing a geographic district within the County.  The Board participates an open meeting monthly on the third Monday of the month, with the exception of Holidays in which the meeting date is moved to Tuesday.  The Board also encompasses various committees that report and recommend to the board.
