The Effingham County Emergency Management Agency (ECEMA), in collaboration with the National Weather Service in Lincoln, has canceled Tuesday night’s Severe Storm Spotter Training.

The class was canceled due to a Level 3 (enhanced) risk of severe weather forecast for Tuesday across parts of the National Weather Service Lincoln service area north of Effingham County. The increased threat requires additional operational staffing at the National Weather Service to monitor weather conditions, preventing staff from conducting outreach events.

The next opportunity for Severe Storm Spotter Training in Effingham County will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Carriage House Event Center, 8 W. Carriage Lane in Altamont. The training will be offered by the National Weather Service in partnership with the Altamont Fire Protection District.

The Effingham training session will be rescheduled at a later date.
