Effingham, IL, June 3, 2025 – Effingham County Board Chairman Josh Douthit recently hosted Illinois State Representative of the 107th District Brad Halbrook. Representative Halbrook spoke directly to Effingham County elected officials and department heads about the problems facing Illinois and those issues discussed in Springfield, IL. Representative Halbrook was kind enough to visit Effingham County after recently working long into the night in Springfield as the budget was passed by Illinois legislatures. Representative Halbrook stated the budget was bad for Illinoisans and included the largest spending ever passed in history and was full of increased taxes on the citizens of Illinois. He spoke on many other bills that were called during the overall budget process and questioned the way the “suspension of the rules” was used to gain approval on some by the majority leaders in the legislature. Some of the specific bills that were discussed were the Energy Bill, The Mascot Bill, and the Assisted Suicide Bill all which have yet to fully pass both houses as of report time. Halbrook made it clear he voted in opposition of the overall “Tax and Spend” budget but it was ultimately approved.

Representative Halbrook also discussed the different counties he serves and provided information on where his offices are located to serve his constituents. Many questions were asked from those who attended and Representative Halbrook was responsive and stated any time his office can provide assistance please reach out and he will do his best to accommodate.

Representative Halbrook can be visited locally at 304 E. Jefferson Ave, Suite A, and can be contacted at 217-342-0220 or by email halbrook@ilhousegop.org.
