Business Development & Coaching

Business Development & Coaching through Dau Consulting (Entrepreneur in Residence) provides existing member businesses and individuals interested in starting a new business, assistance, services, resources, and access to information critical to making smart business decisions.

Are you starting a business but don’t know where to begin? Are you ready to grow your business but don’t know how? From identifying new revenue streams to strengthening business plans, we will coach you every step of the way on your journey to grow.

We provide:
1. industry research
2. writing marketing and business plans
3. financial projections
4. strategic planning and market planning
5. sales and public relations

Coaching enables clients to identify key issues that may be blocking the ability to reach maximum performance. It offers the development of real solutions, bringing clarity for the next phase of work.

Entrepreneur in Residence will provide free and confidential counseling/coaching to members of the Effingham County Chamber for a set/max amount of hours each month. Each Chamber member will be limited to these set amount of hours and will receive a discounted hourly rate for additional hours of coaching.

Jeanne Dau, President of Dau Consulting, has more than 35 years of experience assisting small businesses and nonprofits start, grow, and exit their ventures. She was the former Director of the Business Solutions Center at Eastern Illinois University from 2004-2013 and taught ClassE, the Coles County Entrepreneurship Class until 2020. She has counseled more than 625 business clients and assisted in procuring $17 million in capital as the SBDC Business Development Director in Chillicothe, Missouri. Other experience includes chairing three nonprofit boards and founding four businesses in three different states. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois (communications/business) and an MBA from William Woods University. She is a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional and is also a certified facilitator for True Colors and the John Maxwell Leadership Coaching. Her specialty is strategic planning and getting business up and running.
